Writing can make you happier.
First and foremost creative writing has been proven to be therapeutic.
We have all had one of those days. Perhaps the morning commute was a flurry of people without smiles. Maybe a store assistant was rude to you and threw your change back at you, possibly without even a bag. It may even not be a single day, a culmination of things, as though the universe has an agenda against you.
Well then perhaps it is time to arm yourself against these things. A pen is your sword and the paper is the battlefield. You can create a world free from these issues and daily strife. You could be the hero/heroine, or maybe you envision an entirely new person befitting of this new world.
The escapism potential of a blank page and a full pen is limitless. And this makes it perfect for venting and calming your pent up frustration at the world around you.
Writing is cheap.
Most well known writers start out as rather impoverished people, some even die that way. Which is a rather somber fact, but it goes to show that anyone can afford to write. All you need is a pen and paper. Two things that many already own, or can be bought for next to nothing.
Everyone has creative potential.
Many forget this point. I have had many conversations with people who believe they lack the necessary ability to writer creatively.
I will tell you as I told them. Everyone is able to be creative, you just need to re-adjust how you define creativity. This morning when you dressed yourself is just an example. It took creativity to select clothes, ensure they match. This is just a single example,
I run whole creative writing workshops discussing the many other ways we all display the ability on a daily basis.
So, there you have three reasons alone why we should all find more time to write creatively. Keep your eyes peeled for more great ideas appearing on this blog.
